INOSIM BICON 1.2 Brings Improved Power BI Integration And New Dashboards In Tableau

We will release the new version 1.2 of our BICON interface for connecting INOSIM with commercially available business intelligence solutions in early 2023. The update offers significantly improved support for Power BI, which is an important BI tool for many customers – also because it is available in a free version. This makes it possible to use the data created via BICON at no extra cost.

The dashboards with INOSIM simulation data that you already know from Tableau are also available for Power BI as of BICON Version 1.2. The following figure shows some of the differences and similarities between the data presentation of the two Business Intelligence Tools:

In the Tableau Dashboard, INOSIM BICON displays the duration of operations and waiting times in the Gantt chart like this.

For comparison, the display of the same simulation data in the INOSIM BICON Dashboard for Power BI.

By this dashboard, INOSIM BICON provides an overview of unit utilizations in Power BI.

However, not only Power BI users benefit from the innovations in INOSIM BICON 1. 2, but also Tableau users: By exporting new additional fields from the database (e. g., the filling level thresholds of units), new simulation questions can be answered.

Tableau users can also enjoy the following features:

  • There are new dashboards for level analysis (see also our Tip and Trick Tank Level Evaluation).
  • The unit utilization can now be dynamically calculated over any horizon (e. g., the simulation runs over one year and the investigation period covers only the second month).
  • Transfers are now better linked to the data model.
  • The already existing dashboards have been further optimized in terms of handling and display.

The new INOSIM BICON 1. 2 is expected to be delivered by us in January 2023 and will be available for download on this homepage. As usual, we will inform our registered users of the delivery date with a separate e-mail.
