Clariant Implements Process Simulation Corporation-Wide

Swiss Clariant AG is a globally leading manufacturer of specialty chemicals. Business areas are Care Chemicals, Natural Resources, Catalysis and Plastics, and Coatings.

In the course of Industry 4.0, Clariant has established an expert team, the section Mathematical Methods & Simulation. In this central enterprise unit, new ways to implementing data, models and simulation into process engineering are explored intensively.

For a longer period already, INOSIM has been a professional contact to Clariant in matters of process simulation. In winter 2016/17, this exchange was concretized by presenting the potential of INOSIM Plant Edition at the Burgkirchen (Germany) production site to the Clariant expert team. Several facility managers on location added their practical experience to the expertise.

Breaking Ground with INOSIM Simulation

As a result of this exchange, Clariant acquired first licenses of INOSIM Plant Edition for application by the central expert team, intending to support several production sites of the enterprise with their local tasks, beginning with pilot projects. Process simulation, for instance, offers solutions when it comes to bottleneck analysis or when economic efficiency in investments has to be calculated.

Supported by INOSIM, with this model Clariant breaks new ground in the way major enterprises can benefit from process simulation: A central expert team coordinates the application of the simulation tools, collecting know-how and evaluating experiences, all for the sake of the complete enterprise. An approach which might be of interest, not alone for Clariant!
