That’s why INOSIM now supports WIBU CmCloud, a cloud-based licensing solution that eliminates the need for your own license server while keeping floating licenses easily accessible wherever you need them.
INOSIM uses WIBU Codemeter to manage software licenses. Depending on your setup, you are currently either using a CmStick (USB dongle) or a CmAct license hosted on an internal license server. With CmCloud, WIBU’s latest licensing technology, we now offer a third option that removes the need to operate your own license server.
A Simpler Way to Manage Licenses
For organizations with only a few floating license users, maintaining a dedicated server can become an unnecessary administrative burden: License updates require coordination with IT, server outages can interrupt your work at inconvenient times, and the infrastructure itself can easily cost €1,000 or more per year.
With CmCloud, licensing becomes much simpler. The organization receives a credentials file from INOSIM, which can be shared in the user group to import into Codemeter. When INOSIM starts, Codemeter automatically retrieves an available license from WIBU’s highly available cloud infrastructure. If your maintenance contract includes updates, new license versions are deployed by our support team automatically – no server administration or manual updates required.
What You Need to Know About CmCloud

Please also note the following:
- Available only for INOSIM 2026 and later versions only.
- INOSIM can view aggregated license usage statistics.
- Individual user management within a cloud container is currently not available.
- License borrowing (offline use) is not yet supported but planned.
- While WIBU operates a highly available cloud infrastructure, 100% service availability cannot be guaranteed.
If you prefer to keep full control of your licensing infrastructure but want to reduce operating costs, consider hosting your Codemeter license server on Linux instead of Windows.
